- Minak first encountered the Atopians when the Atopians landed ships on Minak and started trading for rare minerals only available on Minak – trade was forced when Minak later became reluctant
- A battle for Minak freedom followed. Minak displaced the Atopian invaders and stole their space-faring technology, developing it to become the second most pre-eminent spacefaring nation
- Harbour great hostility towards Atopia, culminating in a decades-long war – officially ended with a treaty that led to the founding of ATIC in SQ33683 – unofficially, hostilities continue to bubble along
- Originally, Minak was supposed to be part of ATIC (MATIC proposed), but Atopia refused to be second and ATIC was founded in the diplomatic stalemate
- Minak responded by setting up the MInak Guild of Solidarity – but only a few fringe nations joined
- Commercial relations became normalized, but philosophical differences remain
